Cats need to exercise, too. But, unlike the dog, we don’t see them with a cat lead around their neck being walked by their owners around the block. Cat exercises consist of interactive games using their toys. The feather on a string at one end of a stick will entice the cat to leap and stretch while trying to catch it. He will be challenged by slither toys going down the stairs. He will spend a great deal of time going up and down the stairs trying to tame it.
Of course a cat tree will not only keep him occupied; it will also force him to strengthen his arm and leg muscles. Get one that will fit the size of your cat. A tall cat tree will force him to stretch even further up. Cats can have weight problems, too, which can eventually lead to health problems. Because you are responsible for him, make sure that he gets enough exercise.
