He might want to run away and your ID will come in handy. You will need a place for him to stay. If you got a crate make sure that it is a size that he will be comfortable in.
Gather his personal things. Comb and brush, bowls for food and water and bath things such as soap, shampoo and anti parasite powder. It is convenient if he has a self cleaning litter box. Life will be easier for you and you will not be impatient with the dog when he litters. It also traps odors and provides a clean environment.
