Advancements of the Cat Flap
Cats have a natural need to explore. They are always moving about and going to every unexplored corner of your house or your general area. When they’ve seen everything there is to see inside the house, they will start to want to see what’s on the other side of the front door. Cat owners usually install a cat flap on their windows and doors to allow cats to enter and exit the house without a human opening the door for them.
Cat flaps may be as simple as a weighted flap, but it has evolved over the years. Magnets on the flap prevent it from being rattled by the wind. Some flaps are adjustable to allow one-way passage. Electromagnetic flaps can detect a matching permanent magnet on a cat’s collar and opens the hatch. This prevents any other animal from entering the house. The most recent feature is the radio-frequency identification microchip, which opens the flap when it detects a matching microchip implanted on a cat.
