Part of providing good basic care for your parrot bird also includes keeping him busy and entertained with toys. It doesn’t matter if the toy was wood, plastic, or super material made to travel through space. If your parrot’s toy habit requires its own budget then here are some sound ideas on how to save money on parrot bird toys:
~ Make your own toys. You can buy supplies to make toys or you can look around your house. Anything that is non toxic can be made into chew toy.
~ Clip some flowers, branches, or shrubs then hang them around your parrot’s cage.
~ Shop online. Many online stores often have more choices and best of all, better prices.

Birds are awesome creatures. They make great pets. The best birds in my opinion to keep as pets are parrots. As pets, they are low maintenance. All you will need is a cage. Just feed them nutritional parrot food and lots of water and they’re good.
The cage will protect your parrot from other predators. Parrots are expensive. You don’t want it being killed by your neighbor’s cat. Nutritional parrot food will make sure they get all the nutrients for a healthy life. Parrots can live as long as people. Their life expectancy is about 70 years. The water is for drinking and also for hygiene purposes. Birds clean themselves. They love grooming themselves with water.

Many people are drawn to parrots for their intelligence, beautiful colors and adorable personalities. Although caring for these pets in the home will involve a few challenges, with proper care, parrots can make for wonderful pets. There are different species of parrots and they require different care.
But for all parrots, proper nutrition is essential in maintaining a good quality of life. Most parrot diets are the same. In general, these birds need to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, parrot treats and pellets, and parrot seed mix. Clean water should also be given everyday.

Just like children, birds can be picky about the food that they eat. They will consume bird seed that they like in quantities that are not beneficial to them. For this reason, bird experts suggest that formulated diets are more advantageous than bird seed mixtures. They say that the best diet for most seed-eating birds consist of pelleted foods, fruits and vegetables. Unlike in a seed mixture, the bird will not be able to pick only his favorite seed. When given pelleted food the bird has no choice but to take in the right amounts of vitamins, minerals and other nutritional requirements.
Formulated diets are available in many pet stores and for sure, a lot of study has transpired before these are put on the shelves for sale. There are specific types for particular species, focusing on their special needs. The fat or protein content may be higher in some and lower in others because that is what the particular bird specie requires. Aside from pelleted bird food, they should also be supplied with special treats every so often. Fresh fruits and vegetables are a great source of vitamins and minerals. Just leave them in the cage. But be careful that they are carefully washed and pitted.

Parrots are some of the most loved pets. Kids and adults love them because they can talk back to us. Both kids and adults love to spend hours teaching parrots to say certain words. Taking care of a parrot as a pet involves being careful with the food that they eat. For these owners who treat their parrots like family members, they usually feed them only organic parrot pellets.
Organic parrot pellets can be fed to all parrot species. They are made from organic ingredient, does not contain any artificial flavors or preservatives. Some of the ingredients include organic barley, soybeans, corn, papaya, guava and sesame seeds. These organic pellets also include herbs like cilantro, flax seed and fennel. They are good for parrots because some of them include vitamins that are beneficial for your pet parrot.

There seems to be disagreement on the use of pellets as opposed to supplemented seed and fresh food as the best diet for parrots. Parrot pellets are claimed to contain all essential nutrients in a balanced formula and are totally edible. With pellets or crumbles the birds get excellent nutrition. Those who prefer to give pellets to their birds limit the use of supplements or treats. Parrot pellets vary in size from the crumble size to medium size diets for bigger birds like macaws and cockatoos.
The other camp believes that attempting to get all nutrients into a pellet is a bit of a challenge. Furthermore, getting all the nutrients to survive the manufacturing and distribution process can be difficult. The matter of shelf life of the product is also being questioned. This camp believes that seeds with supplements are the best diet for pet parrots. Besides, there are pet owners who claim that their birds are allergic to pellets.

I have a pet parrot named May. When I first got her I fed her purely bird seeds. Later I realized that bird seeds is unhealthy for birds but more especially for parrots. I switched from bird seeds to bird pellets. Bird pellets provide a more balanced diet for your birds. Switching her from bird seeds to pellets is no easy task.
Since I started May on seed, switching to Bird Pellets took me a couple of weeks. I started with a 75 percent mix of bird seed and 25 percent bird pellets. After about 5 days, I made it 50 percent bird seed and 50 percent bird pellets. After another 5 days, I made it 25 percent bird seeds and 75 percent bird pellets. I fed her that for a week. Then I fed her mostly bird pellets with a couple of seeds. Today May eats only bird pellets.
