Sometimes, just getting a large dog into a vehicle can be a problem. Unlike cutie little puppies that you can hand carry and settle down in a basket, large dogs are heavy. Of course, if they are used to travelling and if you are travelling in a car or van, they can just jump in. Before they do that, be sure to prepare the backseat – cover it with something that will catch dog hair and throw in a few toys. That should keep him occupied throughout the trip.

It is something else when you are traveling with a sick or an elderly dog; or when you are using a pick-up. How do you load a large dog into the back of your pick-up? An easy way is by using a dog ramp. A dog ramp is a sloping piece of material that facilitates access. Dog ramps for cars and trucks usually fold up when not in use.

An overweight dog can have difficulty moving around especially when he has to climb steps. Ease his discomfort of going up or down. Make movement more comfortable for him with the assistance of a pet ramp. He will be able to go more places than just the occasional stroll around your home.

Bring your dog along in the car. Instead of carrying him and tiring your arms, simply lay out the pet ramp so he can walk up unassisted. Once a dog becomes more confident of his footing on this transport helper, everyday life will become easier for him and lead to a more active lifestyle.

Training your dog in the proper way to relieve themselves is a basic need. It should be one of the first things that should be taken care of, right after getting him settled in a comfortable space and providing him with bowls for food and water. There are other things that he should be taught. A new puppy will require a series of training sessions to mold him into an ideal well behaved pet. Get your pen and paper and make a list.

~Train him to recognize correction words such as “No” and praise words such as “Good” and “Ok”.
~Train him how to use a dog ramp. They must be able to get into the car on their own. A ramp will also keep them out of mud and dirt.
~Teach them proper behavior when going for a walk.
~Teach them to be gentle when being handled, to come when they are called and to stop barking when ordered to be “Quiet”.

There are many other good things that he can be taught. Starting with just a few will make him such a lovable creature that you will want to be always by your side.

We live in a four bedroom, two-storey house. We have a dog that has been with us since she was four months old. Now that Red (our pet German Shepherd) is pass her prime (she’s ten years old now), she has problems going up and down the stairs. She usually stays in the porch but even there she’s having a hard time going up and down the short porch steps. This is why we got her a pet ramp.

A pet ramp is designed for elderly dogs or dogs with certain injury. It will make life easier for them. Prior to getting a ramp, Red preferred to stay in the yard. When it was nighttime, she would just curl up by the foot of the porch. Now with the pet ramp, she can go up with ease and sleep by my foot while I watch TV.

Is your pet having a hard time reaching for a toy or a bone? Or, is he injured and couldn’t easily go up and down to and from his bedspace? Now is the time to end your worries. There are a wide range of pet ramps that are now out in the market. They are designed for all pets unable to climb up to where they are supposed to be. There are various types of ramps according to your requirement and your pet’s convenience.

You may opt for the lightweight so you can bring it anywhere you want to see your dog comfortably moving. You may also choose the heavy-duty dog ramps for years of fun and pathway for your pet. An overweight or simply lazy dog is very hard to get inside the car. You’ll find that there a lot of lifting and struggling involved. This not only has the risk of hurting your pet, it can also do you damage too! Accept that not every dog can nimbly jump into the car without help. But he can be easier to coax to walk up or down at a gentle incline if you have a pet ramp.

Check if the incline is suitable for your pet. Measure the length of the ramp from your car to the ground first. And since some dogs are wary of new things, you can place a few treats on the ramp the first few times he will have to try it. Give your dog lots of encouragement until he gets used to it. It may sometimes take a long time, but the results will be worth it in the end.

Don’t we all just love dogs? Dogs are the best companion; we love to bring them with us to the park, on a road trip and even for a dip. But what do you do if your dog gets too heavy to be carried into your van or to high places? It’s now to get a dog ramp. A dog ramp can be used to help your dog get into your car or up a flight of stairs.

The older a dog gets, the more fragile his legs will get. Just like humans, a dog’s bones will age. A dog ramp will provide comfort for your dog’s legs. It will lessen the impact on his bones. Your dogs deserve to be treated with as much love and care as you would your own family.

Hip injury in dogs is quite common. The hip joint is vulnerable to trauma and/or dislocation because of a dog’s activity. Some dogs are just too active and playful that they wouldn’t think twice about leaping from a high spot down to the ground.

A wrong landing can cause undue pressure on the hip joints. Repetitive trauma to the hips can then lead to complications as a dog ages. To avoid further injury, dog ramps can be positioned in areas of the home where dogs usually stay. This could be beside your bed. A ramp can also be used when climbing in and out of SUVs that are too high. These ramps are especially helpful for smaller dogs.

Like their masters, dogs, cats, and other animals encounter difficulties when going up and down steps, and getting into vehicles and other elevated places. Aged creatures in particular, have to struggle more since they have lost most of their agility, strength and senses through the years. Thankfully, there are contraptions like pet ramp. They make moving up and down and to and from stairs, cars, beds, and couches faster and easier for our much-loved house critters. Amazingly, a few of these light inclines can hold up to 500 pounds of weight!

Animals who suffer from osteoarthritis and/or leg, shoulder, back or orthopedic problems will benefit from using a pet ramp, according to veterinarians. This practical device is available in several types such as telescoping, wood and aluminum, and can be straight, bi-fold or tri-fold, or rolled out. When ordered online, most come with free shipping too. PetSTEP, HalfSTEP, Ramps4Paws, and Mr. Herzher’s all offer first-rate pet ramps and other handy pet gear.

Here are some easy things you can do to make your senior pet more happy, healthy, and comfortable:

~ Consider giving extra supplements. A good multi-vitamin will guarantee that your pet gets adequate daily amounts of necessary minerals and vitamins.
~ Nourish the best diet. Providing your pets high quality food not only makes them feel better, but can lessen the chances of disease and illness.
~ Elevate your pet’s food and water bowls. Raised feeders reduce neck strain and minimize air ingestion making them perfect for senior pets.
~ Invest on a pet ramp and special harnesses which can make life for senior pets more easier to move around.
~ Don’t forget about regular exercise. Your older pet still requires getting out and being part of the world, by soaking up some sunshine and breathing fresh air.
