Keep your canine friend warm and dry against a biting, moist wind. Have him wear a dog coat if you plan on taking a walk despite the cold weather. Dog coats help protect pets from getting cold. These apparel can also help extend your time outdoors.

Dog coats have various levels of thickness because some dog breeds, especially the small ones, get cold much easier than their bigger counterparts. Another advantage of a dog coat is that it provides a barrier which helps control flea or tick infestation from fellow animals. You can also spray bug repellant on the coat, instead of your dog to prevent skin irritation.

cat lead

Cats need to exercise, too. But, unlike the dog, we don’t see them with a cat lead around their neck being walked by their owners around the block. Cat exercises consist of interactive games using their toys. The feather on a string at one end of a stick will entice the cat to leap and stretch while trying to catch it. He will be challenged by slither toys going down the stairs. He will spend a great deal of time going up and down the stairs trying to tame it.

Of course a cat tree will not only keep him occupied; it will also force him to strengthen his arm and leg muscles. Get one that will fit the size of your cat. A tall cat tree will force him to stretch even further up. Cats can have weight problems, too, which can eventually lead to health problems. Because you are responsible for him, make sure that he gets enough exercise.

Kong dog toys

April 20th, 2009

Dog owners do love to think their dogs as their children and they get their dogs various toys for playing with. Choosing the correct dog toys might be very tricky though. For as friendly, lovable, loyal, and playful as they would be, dogs aren’t the brightest of creatures. They are naturally attracted to many things which can cause them harm. This is why it is important to start off early with the dog by giving safe toys to play and chew with.

Durability is the other factor, essentially for dogs which loves to chew for a longtime. A toy which would easily break apart can surely become a hazard, because the sharp parts might be swallowed, get caught in throat, or cut in gums and mouth. Kong dog toys are very good choice because of they are made out of the finest rubber and has met the quality standard in safe toys for dogs.

Like humans, dogs also need exercise. Regular exercise is good for their heart and promotes longevity. Ideally, pets must be able to roam free around the park or in a yard. Problems arise when pets are not trained enough to stay in the area. A sight of a cat may cause a dog to give chase, leaving the pet owner breathless in a futile attempt to call the dog.

This is where a wireless dog fence comes in helpful. This fence makes use of radio signals. A predetermined boundary keeps a pet contained in a safe area. The device transmits a signal to the dog’s receiver collar and produces a warning beep before giving out a static current.

dog ramps

April 14th, 2009

Hip injury in dogs is quite common. The hip joint is vulnerable to trauma and/or dislocation because of a dog’s activity. Some dogs are just too active and playful that they wouldn’t think twice about leaping from a high spot down to the ground.

A wrong landing can cause undue pressure on the hip joints. Repetitive trauma to the hips can then lead to complications as a dog ages. To avoid further injury, dog ramps can be positioned in areas of the home where dogs usually stay. This could be beside your bed. A ramp can also be used when climbing in and out of SUVs that are too high. These ramps are especially helpful for smaller dogs.
