crate training a puppy

October 28th, 2009

A puppy’s crate is his own personal abode. Some dogs will react if he sees someone messing with his crate, especially if he is someone who is not familiar to him or someone he does not trust. A dog’s affinity to his crate does not come that easily. It takes a little bit of time and effort in crate training a puppy but it is possible if tips from the experts are heeded. They will learn to love their crate, find comfort in their security and long for it when they are in a different location.

A dog’s crate should be made as comfortable as possible. In choosing the crate for your dog, consider his size. Make sure that he can stand upright and has enough space to move around a bit. Make sure that cleanliness is maintained. And remember that crate training is different from toilet training. A dog that is properly toilet trained will not mess up his crate.
