dog conformation
Dog shows are one of the many competitions dog owners can enter their pets to. These include tests of instinct and trainability like obedience and agility trials and dog conformation events where breeding stocks are evaluated. Sizes of these events range from big all-breed shows with as much as 3000 dogs entered, to small and local specialty club shows that feature only a specific breed.
A dog’s conformation involves judging of overall appearance and structure which are indications of a dog’s ability to produce quality puppies, The three types of conformation dog shows are:
~All-breed shows where over 150 breeds and varieties of dogs are entered
~Specialty shows that are restricted to dogs of a specific breed or to varieties of one breed
~Group shows are limited to dogs belonging to one of the seven dog groups
