What are Draft Horses?
Draft horses are also called work horses because they are suited for drawing heavy loads. There are breeds that are suited as draft horses. This will include the Belgian, Clydesdale, Percheron, and Shire, all of which are extremely large and noted for their strength, endurance, and good disposition. They are used in a multitude of purposes including farming and logging; for show and recreation. Draft horses can also be ridden under saddle.
Draft horses need draft horse saddles. You will find them in a variety of styles for different levels and budgets. You will want to look for a draft horse saddle made of premium leather, special tooling and with at least 16″ wide seat. It is all about the size of the seat which should fit the horse nicely. A padded seat will make riding comfortable.
