Leash Training

A dog that is a big size breed and may weigh more than 50 pounds as an adult needs to undergo leash training as early as possible. It would be very hard to walk your dog around if he has a tendency to pull you along because he is undisciplined in this area. For starters, a puppy has to get used to wearing a collar and leash together to feel comfortable with it. It would take patience on your part but you will reap its benefits in the future.

There are two popular materials for dog leash training:

  • A nylon dog lead is easy to wash and come in various colors. However, it can lead to hand burns if your dog is very strong and keeps pulling on the leash.
  • A leather dog lead will last for a long time. It is more expensive though but you can control your dog more firmly with this because your grip won’t easily slip when the dog pulls on his leash.
