Dog owners love to give their pets a treat or two now and then. After all, what pooch doesn’t like to get a treat like a dog biscuit from time to time? There is a wide variety of treats available these days and they all come in all different shapes, sizes, colors, and consistencies. For every good dog treat, there are those out in stores that are not so good. If you love giving your dog treats you have to be aware of those treats that can be harmful to your canine friend.
Below are some helpful info about various dog treats:
- Greenies – Dogs really like these treats but these can cause choking.
- Rawhide chews – these treats clean your dog’s teeth but those made outside of the U.S. may contain arsenic based chemicals which may be ingested by your dog.
- Chocolate – this tasty treat contains an ingredient called theobromine. It affects dogs by making them hyperactive. But a huge dose could be fatal.
- Bones – canines love to chew on all types of bones. The danger in this is that the bones could easily splinter and cause choking.
